Job Description:
Individual will be responsible for managing the live tutoring room
Responsibilities include:
• Greet students as they enter the live tutoring room and explain to first time visitors the purpose of the tutoring room and how it operates
• Assist students in filling out questionnaire and ensure all required information is captured and correct
• Determine type of help student needs and assign to appropriate tutor
• Respond to student questions and if possible provide students with self help materials if appropriate and available
• Monitor the amount of time a tutor spends with a student and if other students are waiting limit that time to 20 minutes
• Follow-up with student after the session to provide additional materials as required and request they fill out the end of session survey
• Perform tutoring duties on an as needed basis in one of the disciplines (database, general IT, networking, programming, web)
• Work a fixed schedule of 10 hours per week (negotiable) to include weekend and evening hours
• Assist in the development of materials to be used in the Technical Center's Resource Library
Current Hours of operation are:
Sunday 5 - 11 PM ET
Monday - Thursday 11 AM to 1 PM ET and 8 PM to Midnight ET
Main hours of work will be Sunday, Monday & Tuesday.
This is a paid position: $10 per hour
Qualifications:
Be a Kaplan student in good standing and eligible for Work Study Program. Maintain an average of 3.0 or better. Have a good understanding of the IT field in general and able to answer basic IT questions about File Management, MS Word, PowerPoint, navigating the Kaplan classroom, etc. Ability to communicate effectively with others, organized, and motivated. Additionally, a letter of recommendation from a faculty member is required.
